At White Pearl Medical Spa, providing a diverse selection of services for our patients is a top priority. We know that what works for one patient might not be the best treatment for another. Thanks to continued advances in skin care, we are excited to offer Des Plaines, Northwest Suburbs, Illinois, area patients solutions such as RF microneedling treatment to improve their skin’s appearance and health. Let’s look at some frequently asked questions regarding this treatment for men and women.
RF microneedling, sometimes referred to as “collagen induction therapy,” is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. The treatment uses tiny needles to create micro-wounds on the skin’s surface while delivering heat through RF energy to deeper layers of the skin.
The RF microneedling therapy precisely delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to selectable skin depths. During the procedure, a handheld device equipped with 49 insulated micro-needles is moved across the targeted area of the skin. As the needles penetrate the skin, they deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy deep into the dermis layer, stimulating collagen production and tightening existing collagen fibers. This therapy effectively addresses fine lines, wrinkles, acne, skin laxity, stretch marks, and scars while improving overall skin texture and reducing signs of aging.
Most patients experience only slight discomfort during MicroRF treatment, which is generally well-tolerated. The intensity of the sensation may vary depending on individual pain tolerance and the depth of the needles used. To minimize discomfort, your provider will apply a topical anesthetic cream 30 to 40 minutes before the treatment. The RF technique utilizes a proprietary insertion mechanism and patented insulated micro-needles designed to deliver energy to the targeted area while ensuring comfort and safety.
For those who need additional relaxation, we also offer Pro-Nox, a 50/50 mix of nitrogen and oxygen that enhances comfort during the procedure.
After the treatment, you may experience mild redness in the treated area, which usually subsides the next day. Some patients may also notice slight bruising or pinpoint bleeding at the needle insertion sites. However, there is no significant downtime associated with RF microneedling, and most people can resume their normal activities immediately after they have undergone the procedure.
The number of collagen induction therapy sessions varies based on individual skin concerns and goals. For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of three to four treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart. Our providers will assess your skin and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. While some results may be noticeable after one treatment, significant improvements generally require three sessions, and your provider will discuss the ideal treatment plan based on your specific skin condition and objectives.
Improvements are typically noticeable 6-8 weeks after treatment. However, the number of treatments and results vary depending on your skin condition. Your provider will advise on what to expect.
The RF microneedling treatment at our office is suitable for all patient skin types and textures, and it can address numerous concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, laxity, acne scars, enlarged pores, and dull skin. However, individuals with active infections or inflammatory skin conditions may not be eligible for the treatment.
